NOTE: Position can be based in Asheboro, NC or Lakeville MN
The primary purpose of this job is to provide technical engineering services to develop high speed packaging systems for our mid to long term business objectives. Work consists of concept development, feasibility studies, cost estimating, packaging systems analysis & design, optimization of existing & future pouch product processing and packaging systems. Responsible for completing job duties in a fashion that supports all Company personnel safety, food safety, quality, manufacturing, and environmental practices in an operationally excellent manner.
Serve as the technical high speed blending and pouching packaging expert.
Build and extend expertise in the area of high speed blending and pouching packaging equipment and technology.
Lead the development of conceptual designs, feasibility studies and installation for blending process systems, high speed packaging equipment systems for both current operations and new lines.
Identify and develop new packaging components that support MOM Brands business objectives.
Prepare cost estimates for concepts and other assigned potential projects.
Prepare process analysis of existing and new packaging technologies and systems throughput, yields, material flow analysis, etc.
Review safety requirements, sanitation/GMP/food safety and ergonomic aspects of assigned projects.
Manage assigned projects for implementation using project management skills to deliver scope, budget, and schedule.
Maintain an up-to-date awareness of Federal, State, and Local engineering codes and regulations.
Education: Bachelor degree in accredited engineering program is required. Packaging Engineering (or equivalent) preferred. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering acceptable.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience including high speed blending & pouching systems, packaging systems design, project management, and systems start-up in a consumer packaged goods environment. Food packaging experience preferred. Proven packaging systems design experience of large, complex processes / projects is required.
Technical Skills: Extensive technical and theoretical knowledge of packaging materials, processes and systems. Ability to formulate and execute a very complex plan that, when complete, will meet project or company goals; ability to do conceptual development as well as detailed engineering analysis and design. Project scheduling; Sound analytical thinking; Ability to design and start-up packaging and material handling systems of significant magnitude.
Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple very complex projects from concept to completion; ability to interact effectively with others; ability to lead project team to successful development of project scope and implementation of project. Strong organizational skills. Must be able to leverage external engineering resources.
Travel: Travel of up to 30% at times will be required.
