The Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Senior Engineer will provide reliable electric output for a global market in the next generation of BWRs, along with passive safety systems that are ready in case they're needed. Evaluate tradeoffs with Mechanical and Electrical design engineers to minimize cost while achieve availability and reliability targets. Identify key components for maintenance, testing and spare parts inventory.

Essential Responsibilities
This role provides consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact. In addition, in this role you will:
  • Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
  • Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
  • Function as program manager when appropriate
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Develop and implement training modules as necessary
  • Lead the evaluation of ESBWR systems and components for their effect on personnel, environmental, nuclear safety and power production
  • Own the plant Capacity Factor (CF) and Availability factor
  • Conduct or initiate Reliability evaluations for systems and components
  • Determine and review diagnostic/condition monitoring requirements for initiating preventative maintenance
  • Review accessibility for operation and maintenance
  • Determine required maintenance intervals, and spare parts inventory and their effect on CF and Availability
  • Identify components critical to RAM and associated procurement requirements
  • Review reliability test plans and results and vendor recommendations for maintenance and spare parts
  • Author design procedures to ensure that system and component design, procurement, installation, and testing meets RAM goals
  • Review reliability test plans and results and vendor recommendations for maintenance and spare parts
  • Evaluate impact of design changes for RAM on plant cost targets
  • Conduct design and technology trade-off analysis
  • Integrate nuclear safety Design Reliability Assurance Program with RAM
  • Initiate Probabilistic Risk Analysis (PRA) to evaluate design changes effect on PRA commitments
  • Assist system engineers in meeting Availability targets
  • Conduct and peer review Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Leverage corporate DFSS tools and ESBWR PRA methods and data to quantify CF and Availability with minimal additional effort
  • Interface with ALARA Radiological engineering to assess accessibility for operation and maintenance of components in a radiation environment
  • Screen Operating Experience for use by system designers
  • Perform receipt inspections of vendor deliverables and enter these documents into GE's document control system
  • Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures
  • Implement work plans in accordance with the overall GEH Regulatory and Procedure Excellence Initiative and ESBWR Engineering requirements engineering program
  • Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions
  • Provide on-time, quality delivery of engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Support commercial and marketing opportunities for New Plants
  • Support Company initiatives: LEAN, DFSS & DMAIC Six Sigma, New Product Introduction, Simplification and Digitization

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
  • Minimum of 2 additional years in industrial plant maintenance planning or design to quantify availability
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in plant programs applying NRC Maintenance Rule or INPO AP-913 Equipment Reliability

  • Experience with nuclear process, electrical, instrumentation, controls and software; design, maintenance and operation
  • SRO Certification or License at a commercial nuclear facility
  • Minimum of 2 years of Power plant Maintenance engineering or supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of On shift operating experience and outage experience at large nuclear, chemical or other industrial facility
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with application of programs based on “DOD Guide for Achieving Reliability, Availability, And Maintainability”
  • Documented quantification of industrial plant Capacity Factor and Availability
  • Work experience under ALARA radiological controls
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Certified Health Physicist
  • Demonstrated experience in technical management of suppliers and interfacing at all levels within supplier organization
  • Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity
  • Familiar with GE eDRF, & eIV configuration management tools
  • Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments
  • Minimum of 2 years as coordinator for NRC Maintenance Rule or INPO AP-913 Equipment Reliability
