Senior Environmental Scientist/Engineer, Perth Amboy NJ

Parsons has an ongoing project with Major Chemical Concern at Perth Amboy, NJ. The successful candidate independently performs a wide variety of more difficult and complex environmental sampling and data collection tasks. Compiles and computes a variety of data. May analyze test data, develop or prepare descriptive charts, figures, or matrices; test specifications; or make recommendations regarding these items. Acts as a Field Team Leader coordinating field efforts with client site personnel and subcontractors, leading kick-off meetings with field teams, and providing technical guidance to field personnel performing field activities. This role requires the ability to develop solutions to challenges identified during implementation and clear and concise communication while serving as a liaison between field activities and project management.
The Scientist at this level is a qualified professional, proficient in utilizing most of the relevant theories and practices of the discipline. Assignments require an in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and control strategies relevant to their technical areas. The Scientist will be expected to travel to and work at the Perth Amboy site on a daily basis.
4-year degree in a technical or science curriculum related to environmental or earth sciences.
5-10 years of related work experience.
Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used within the assigned discipline.
Thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations, particularly those of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection including the Field Sampling Procedures Manual.
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification and valid refresher course.
Proficiency in implementation of a behavior based safety program.
Experience at petroleum refining or storage facilities is preferred.
Experience with remediation technologies such as ISCO, ISS, ISCF is preferred.
