Prepares cost estimating services for the preparation of bids and projects to support all business lines. Ensures all costs are properly captured and documented. Will be responsible for inquiries from receipt through pricing and review to final proposal submittal. May coordinate other employees during bid process on large proposals.
Conducts pre-estimate meetings with business line management to plan bid strategy and ascertaining methods of performance based on the scope of work. Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, performing quantity take-offs, determining manpower, equipment requirements, material items and subcontractors. Obtains review and input information from contracts, legal, taxes, insurance, finance and other support groups. Conducts bid review meeting with the Manager of Estimating, Project Manager, and/or business line management to finalize bid, markup, and strategies. Develop and maintain during the bidding stage a Bid Book of backup documentation. Coordinates with project management to review bid strategy and assists in project buy-out. Assist in obtaining firm quotes for material suppliers, equipment and subcontractors. Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes: Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists. Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness. Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions. Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Also responsible for RFQ from receipt, through pricing and review, to final submittal. May coordinate other employees during bid process on large proposals. Some travel required. Strong multi-discipline background with conceptual take off capabilities necessary.
Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Works independently with minimal guidance.
Thorough knowledge of EPC estimating process
5-10 years of Power/Process estimating experience
5-15 years of pipe fabrication estimating experience
Strong organizational, communication (oral and written) and multi-tasking skills
Proficiency in Excel
Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Construction or Engineering preferred)
Working knowledge of pipe fabrication
Shop, field, and engineering experience
Previous management experience
