Position Description: Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VCRA), the leading provider of solutions that address critical communications and productivity challenges facing healthcare, hospitality, retail and other mobile work environments.

We have a very unique and exciting opportunity for a qualified Sr. Public Relations Manager with experience and expertise supporting C-level executives in the healthcare market. Reporting directly to Vocera’s Senior Director of Corporate Communications, this position will support the Company’s Chief Medical Officer, (San Francisco) and our Executive Chairman, (San Jose/ East Bay).

The qualified candidate will be a self-starter communications professional with a minimum of 5-7 years of leading and executing a comprehensive executive communications strategy for the C-suite.

Responsibilities

Developing a strategic communications program in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer to support her business objectives.

Developing a strategic communications program in conjunction with the Executive Chairman to support his business objectives.

Working with Speakers’ bureaus, trade events/conference planners, and the PR agency to identify appropriate speaking venues and contributed articles/videos/blogs.

Using strong writing skills to develop messaging/positioning, scripts, presentations, calls for proposals, bios, briefing documents and white papers to support the CMO’s & Executive Chairman’s speaking engagements and other communications obligations.

Preparing CMO/Executive Chairman for events/conferences/meetings and often travelling with the executive to coordinate logistics.

Partnering with PR to develop bylines for Tier 1 media and ensure CMO/Executive Chairman are fully briefed for all press interviews.

Crafting thought leadership communications for cross media publishing: video, blog, social media, keynote, press bylines, etc.

Reinforcing Vocera's positioning through executive’s unique POV.

Establishing metrics to continually improve and track results.

Requirements

5-7+ years of related experience required

Exceptional writing skills

Understand healthcare industry, organization, and communication needs

Understanding of technologies, products, and markets

Help develop executive platforms (points of view) in alignment with the messaging

Develop and maintain a repository of core presentations, profiles/biographies

Screen, research, manage, and tailor executive platform content as needed for speaking engagements

Manage travel schedules with Executive Administrators and cross collaboration with global teams

Build strong relationships and use collaboration for desired results

Project management of cross-functional projects and initiatives

B.A. in Communications or related field, previous experience in healthcare a plus

Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally

Her work has earned her the Quantum Leap Award for taking the risk to spur internal change in her field and has led her to be featured in HealthLeaders magazine as one of “20 People Who Make Healthcare Better.” Dr. Duffy attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Robert J. Zollarshas served as our Executive Chairman of the Board since June 2013. From June 2007 to May 2013, he served as our Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer.

From May 2006 to May 2007, Mr. Zollars served as chief executive officer of Wound Care Solutions, Inc., an operator of outsourced chronic wound care centers. From June 1999 to March 2006, Mr. Zollars served as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors of Neoforma, Inc., a healthcare technology company.

From January 1997 to June 1999, Mr. Zollars served as executive vice president and group president of Cardinal Health, Inc., a supplier of health care products and services, where he was responsible for five wholly-owned subsidiaries. Mr. Zollars graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in Marketing from Arizona State University and earned an M.B.A. degree in Finance from John F. Kennedy University.
