King County is currently seeking an experienced strategic policy advisor for health and human services. The position is responsible for the provision of quality, high-level advice and assistance on a wide range of health and human service policy matters, having local, regional and national impact and will act as a liaison among the Executive's Office, County departments and agencies, and community stakeholders.

Job Duties:

Within this role, the incumbent will manage and deliver assigned projects and facilitate consultation with relevant stake holders, regarding complex proposals and various initiatives across sectors. The incumbent will represent the Executive at various meetings and functions, prepare, and deliver high- impact, effective speeches, as well as briefing material and legislative recommendations. Monitoring and resourcing national trends will be crucial to ensure currency of knowledge, and that advice, policy development, service delivery reforms or major initiatives are responsive to and reflective of desired outcomes and contextual factors.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills:

The most successful candidates will have:
· Demonstrated experience at a senior level with a local, state, and/or federal government
· Advanced degree in public health, human services, public affairs, media, communication, government relations or a related field or, any combination of education and experience demonstrating an ability to perform the essential requirements of this position
· Advanced knowledge of health and human services funding and systems’ needs, and extensive experience in reviewing, researching, analyzing and advocating for federal, state and local legislative issues, policies and procedures
Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with elected officials, community stakeholders and numerous other organizations
