SUMMARY

The Sr. Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for all aspects of hardware development within an embedded systems environment. The individual will support multiple activities including requirements definition, design capture, board testing and debug, documenting, support and at the most senior level, may provide architecture, mentoring and team leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop and test of new embedded hardware

Support and enhance existing embedded hardware

Apply established development processes and assist in process improvement

Analyze requirements and develop design alternatives

Generate complete and accurate user and design documentation

Provide input to architecture and design reviews

Provide input and evaluation of new technologies and products

Keep current with embedded hardware trends and share knowledge

Perform design verification of products

Contribute to the release of manufacturing technical data packages for products

Assist in maintaining a positive and productive atmosphere within the team

Provide task breakdowns and accurate estimates for project planning

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 8 years experience preferably in the military / aerospace market

Strong sense of responsibility, commitment to quality and ability to achieve deadlines

Strong digital design skills

Understanding of analog circuits and embedded power supply design a plus

Board level development experience utilizing high speed digital circuits and/or FPGAs is required.

Experience with PCI-E, Serial Rapid I/O (SRIO), Gigabit Ethernet, Embedded processors (Power PC, Intel) VME, VPX is desired.

Experience with design capture tools (preferably Mentor Graphics) is required

Experience with Hardware test and debug methodologies is required

Experience with formal Product Development Processes is desired.

Experience with Hardware debugging tools – analyzers, scopes, emulators is desired

Experience with signal integrity analysis tools and measurement is an asset

Experience with hardware descriptor languages such as Verilog or VHDL is an asset

Experience with requirements capture, analysis and tracking is an asset

Proven communication and interpersonal skills

EDUCATION

Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent

This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of U.S. regulations
