PayPal is rapidly expanding its services beyond the web and mobile devices and beyond simple payments. Our goal is to provide customers the best purchase experience however, wherever, or whenever they want to shop. This includes enabling payments across channels, even while in retail stores but also integrating payments with other aspects of the shopping journey, including lead generation, offers, loyalty and rewards.
To support this mission, PayPal is seeking a seasoned Sr. Product Marketing Manager to join the Retail and Prepaid business unit at PayPal reporting to the Director of Retail Product Marketing.
As part of the Retail and Prepaid Business Unit this position will be part of the team accountable for driving the PayPal’s business in the retail market. In particular this position will be responsible for defining and driving the implementation of elements of the product mix for our Retail offering.
Specifically this includes:
Business Roadmap : Working with the management of the Business Unit and the other PayPal stakeholders (Product, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Finance, regional teams) assist in the definition of the business plan / roadmap / business requirements for the Retail Services.
Product Management : Working with the Market Development team, the various regional sales forces, and the Product group, assist in the identification of product feature set critical to the development of a successful business model for PayPal. Develop resulting Business Requirements Documents and Market Requirements Documents.and support the Global Product Group in their definition of product requirements.
Product Positioning : Working with the Marketing team and with the various Go-To-Market teams, define the key attributes of the product positioning and support the Marketing and Sales Strategy teams as appropriate in the development of sales, go-to-market and communications tools.
Pricing : Working with Finance and the Market Development team, assist in the development of pricing models, policies and rate sheets for the various Retail services.
Ecosystem Development : Working with the Business Development, Corporate Development and Market Development identify and assist in the qualification of key partners required to achieve the adoption of the PayPal services.
Competitive Understanding : Working with the Market Development, and Market Intelligence team, develop and leverage an understanding of the competitive solutions.
Process Improvement : Define process and facilitate discussions or negotiations to drive alignment, acceptance and prioritization of strategies/recommendations/product feature set within a highly complex and cross-functional environment
The measure of success for this performance will be based on:
Product / Business Roadmap : Completeness of the definition, tracking of the delivery against the defined milestones.
Product Profitability : Product contribution to overheads / operating margin.
Competitive Differentiation : Unique PayPal attributes recognized by Merchants and Consumers integrated in the business / product plan.
The successful candidate will exhibit a majority of the following traits
Experience developing new payment solutions and services, delivering on new capabilities
Deep understanding of the payments value chain –particularly the merchant acceptance space- and its touch point with the rest of commerce enablement services.
Capacity to develop, and maintain comprehensive set of business plans and financial models.
Product mix understanding: demonstrated ability to work on all aspects of the Product Mix
Project Management: Working knowledge of initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects.
