Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager – Engineering will lead several global engineering teams in the development of five different products in a rapidly growing market segment. The majority of these products are focused on the optimization and automation of the network and computing infrastructure testing process. Key technologies in use are: Java, Eclipse RCP, Python, jQuery, relational and NoSQL datastores such as Postgres and MongoDB. Development teams use a variety of workstyles ranging from agile with continuous integration to more conventional waterfall based on the maturity of the product in question, technologies in use, and market expectations. A successful candidate for this position will be expected to develop and coordinate a leadership team, build and maintain operational engineering delivery and support processes, help develop product strategy, and provide direction and vision for the development of new and enhanced architectures. An ability to create an environment where subordinate managers can lead their teams to deliver software in a timely manner, with high levels of quality is mandatory. Strong leadership and delivery management capability with continuous integration experience is also key. Additionally, an applicant should be able to develop and deliver executive-level communication effectively as well as communicating vision & strategy to team members in a clear, understandable way. Cooperation with peers and other stakeholders in marketing and product management will be a key success factor for this role. This is a unique opportunity to manage global development, for a wide variety of products, using several different technologies and development techniques. The scope of this role, combined with the breadth and depth of talent required to be successful make it a key step toward other positions of increased responsibility; this is definitely not a role for a person who wants a relaxing work experience… but rather will be an incredibly fun, gratifying position for someone who relishes the challenge of inspiring a team to deliver as many products (albeit smaller ones) as some Sr. Directors and VPs are responsible for at other firms.

Qualifications & Requirements:
B.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science, or Management – advanced degree preferable
• 10+ years experience with development of software or networking products
• Capability to manage, lead and develop subordinate managers
• Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, mentor, and lead strong vibrant teams.
• Experience with modern agile software development processes.
• Demonstrated record of managing successful product deliveries.
• Strong technical skill in two or more of the following areas: networking, web development, server-side development, UI / usability engineering, or system programming/driver development.
• Outstanding communication skills and superior initiative.
• Experience working collaboratively with product management, product marketing, support, and testing teams to create and deliver successful, high-quality products.
• Experience creating positive, energetic, fun work environments, and inspiring outstanding performance among team members.
Preferences:
Ability to work with distributed teams in a dynamic, iterative development process.
• Experience using metrics and data to scientifically manage product development processes.
• Familiarity with network or IT infrastructure testing.
• Familiarity with basic testing techniques and concepts.
• Ability to work with a remote supervisor and remote subordinates.
• Experience supporting commercial technology products in-life.
• Familiarity with accessibility technologies and design metaphors.
• Experience working / leading global development teams.
• Successful track-record coaching / mentoring / developing technical team members and subordinate managers.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic plans & utilize continuous improvement techniques
• Experience with Eclipse (ideally RCP development), Python, jQuery, Spring, or other Java-based technologies.
