The Senior Manager, gRED IT, is responsible for managing the operations, development, support and evolution of systems supporting Early Development and Development Sciences within the Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) organization. In this role, the individual will oversee the IT support for Development Sciences and Electronic Lap Notebook (ELN). The Senior Manager, will coordinate with other senior colleagues in Pharma Informatics and gRED to identify priorities and deliverables. They will be responsible for managing budgets, timelines, and staff and will serve as the liaison and advocate for gRED IT with the Development Sciences community.
Manage the support staff responsible for supporting Development Sciences applications such as WatsonLIMS, TOPIC, BDMS, Sharepoint, and various lab systems.
Acts as the staff manager for your team (performance planning, development planning, performance reviews, salary, bonus, and stock administration, career planning, etc.).
Acts as Informatics Solution Owner for the Electronic Lab Notebook (IDBS E-Workbook Suite) used by gRED.
Inspires team to perform or out-perform by aligning team goals, roles, responsibilities, and work output to the broader strategic goals of Development Sciences, gRED and Roche overall
Proactively provides performance feedback to staff on a frequent basis and gives additional coaching and /guidance to help individuals and/or the team overall to improve in areas for development as well as leverage existing strengths and capabilities.
Develops work group goals, objectives and budget and obtains necessary approvals; cascades goals, objectives, and budget, where applicable, to direct reports
Participates on a number of internal initiatives and goals as the IT representative.
Provide project management and hands on guidance of the operations support team.
Meets with customers and business units to determine needs and develop appropriate solutions.
Establishes and manages project teams and core teams to develop and execute project plans. Conducts project, team and system review meetings on a regular basis to ensure phase products and deliverables meet functional specifications and adhere to system architecture.
Communicates team progress, issues, and status to management, customers, and other stakeholders.
Ensures periodic review of projects to assess progress toward goals and ensure issue resolution.
Collaborates effectively with technical and operations resources, to ensure project delivery and on-going support of applications.

7-10 years of experience developing and managing projects with 3+ years experience staff management
Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry experience and working with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 preferred
Knowledge of scientific applications preferred
Experience in providing operations support and problem resolution
Excellent inter-personal and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to quickly produce clearly written, well-organized documentation; excellent presentation and meeting facilitation skills
Proven skills in relationship building, customer-focus, decision-making, and problem solving
