The UX Team Leader is responsible for designing best-in-class digital experiences for GE Appliances. This player-coach role provides direction, professional development & day-to-day management of User Interface Designers & closely partners with the product, marketing & development teams to deliver innovative & differentiated sites/interfaces
Develops, implements, and communicates a strategic vision using the principles of User Centered Design
Use coaching and mentoring skills to help broaden the teams skill set in usability, interface design and information architecture
Promote user centered design principles throughout the organization
Create a culture supportive of individual contribution and teamwork
Leverages understanding of the business' clients, people, processes and technology to balance the needs of the business and the users with the technology to create optimal outcomes
Develop user interfaces that are clean, easy and intuitive, which incorporate the latest technologies, customer feedback, and UX best practices
Builds relationships with IT partners and formulates innovative technology solutions to business problems.
Develops and maintains an advanced knowledge of the competitive Web landscape; providing this information to the Business and IT to help shape web vision.
Uses and interprets web metrics and user behavior to inform web direction
Conduct Front End analysis, interviewing, focus groups, requirements gathering
Use storyboarding, user scenario development, high level use case definition, user and task analysis, to capture and develop user requirements and integrate elements into user interaction designs
Create, evaluate and modify high and low fidelity prototypes to support development process
Design and develop usability testing plans. Plan, coordinate and facilitate usability tests
Communicate effectively across the organization, from developer to executive
Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Design, New Media, Visual Arts, Graphics Design or equivalent.
Minimum 6-8+ Years of combined experience in visual design, information design, interactive design and production including knowledge of HTML5, AJAX, JSON and latest design / development trends for different devices
Passionate about designing clean, intuitive interfaces with knowledge of current best practices
Ability to work both at a strategic and tactical level with a broad understanding of the business drivers for design deliverables
Proven ability to lead high performance teams
Strong portfolio that shows a variety of successful web/mobile application solutions, including visual and interactive design, concept development and communication
Must have strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, and be able to work well in a collaborative team environment
Applicants must be flexible and able to adapt well to changing priorities in an exciting, fast-paced company
Must be very organized and self-motivated and have the ability to manage projects on tight deadlines
