AEGON Asset Management

, the organization which oversees asset management for many of AEGON USAs operating companies as well as third party clients. Asset classes include public bonds, private placements, commercial mortgage loans, derivatives and alternative investments. Significant funds are invested in nearly every fixed income and real estate sector. The AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Baltimore, Maryland.

The successful candidate must have a good understanding of the accounting rules and standards applicable to asset management. The successful candidate will:

Produce and/or review accurate and meaningful financial information monthly

Understand profitability drivers

Recommend accounting policies for the department

Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of the organizations control environment

The successful candidate must effectively manage the day to day operations. The successful candidate will:

Prepare/Review all financial statements, disclosures and reports

Maintains general ledger including chart of accounts

Perform thorough analytical review on the companys financial statements and resolve finance and accounting issues timely

Help build a global financial reporting infrastructure as well as provide ongoing support for our UK office through answering questions, explaining variances, and providing ad hoc analysis as requested.

Maintain a working knowledge of the firms products and the investment industry and apply this knowledge to understanding and communicating profitability drivers

Present meaningful information to management that can be used to make thoughtful business decisions

Assist in the development, preparation and monitoring of the financial plan which comprises coordination and analysis of operational plans and budgets, forecasting, determination of capital requirements and taxes.

Foster and directs an environment of continuous process and performance improvement by setting expectations to seek and apply best practices and incorporates technology to fullest capability

Assist in the audit and tax filings

Monitor departmental costs consistent with budgeting guidelines and resolve concerns in a timely manner

Provide necessary financial inputs to Human Resources/Compensation Committee for bonus calculations.

Ensure that the financial directions in the LLC and service agreements are carried out timely and accurately

Participate and lead projects to improve the efficiency of the process and assess implementation of new tools to increase data quality, flexibility, and accessibility.

Senior Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller Qualifications:

A four-year Accounting degree with at least 10 years of previous related experience.

A CPA designation is preferred, as well as experience in the asset management industry.

Experience with a public accounting firm preferred

Strong analytical abilities and financial aptitude

Outstanding Excel, Access, Essbase/Hyperion, and general technology skills required.

Excellent communication, organization, customer service, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage to required deadlines.

Strong understanding of accounting concepts and financial statement preparation, comfortable with technology used to consolidate information, ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling many different projects.

Attention to detail, decision making, initiative, integrity, tolerance of ambiguity and commitment to task are necessary skills.

The candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks and enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic team environment.

Accounting Manager Qualifications:
