Activision Blizzard is looking for a Senior Manager, Mobile Analytics who has a passion for mobile gaming and deep statistical analysis and data-mining experience, ideally in social/mobile games. You will lead the mobile team's efforts in collaboration with Analysts at our game development studios to deeply analyze our player data, identifying gameplay and monetization patterns and make suggestions for product improvements based on product goals. You will play an integral role in influencing the mobile team's overall monetization and analytics strategy and will monitor and drive the day-to-day business performance of our mobile titles.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in analytics, data modeling, and reporting for social/mobile games. The successful candidate must be able to maintain oversight of a team of Analysts and lead the definition and creation of data models from which conclusions can be drawn to inform key decision makers. The Mobile Analytics Manager should be able to use the given data to create customized reports and give presentations to communicate analytical results in a clear and easy to understand way.

  • Work with mobile leadership team to define overall monetization and analytics strategy
  • Define systems/processes for in-game play and monetization analytics and work with studio-based Analysts to implement
  • Ensure best practices in driving gameplay, reengagement and monetization are captured and shared/utilized across all studios
  • Work with game developers and executives to identify key performance indicators to track and report
  • Design and maintain reports customized to the needs of different user groups - executives, producers, publishers etc. and communicate results on a regular basis to key stakeholders
  • Work with game developers and external tool vendors to ensure that each game is properly instrumented for data tracking
  • Transform key elements of data into actionable datasets to be used as input for recommendation algorithms and predictive behavior models; also use datasets to describe and segment players to focus user experience development and CRM communications
  • Perform ad hoc retrieval and analysis of data sample sets to draw material conclusions on the population
  • Work with developers to hypothesize, test, and monitor gameplay experiments on various user sets
Experience and Preferred Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience performing data analytics, preferably for a social/mobile gaming company including 2+ years of management experience in this capacity
  • Strong verbal and communication skills with the ability to work with creative people and resolve conflicts with competing ideas
  • Advanced Excel skills including creating pivot tables, using analysis add-on packs, writing macros and user defined functions in VBA, and connecting to ODBC data sources
  • Familiarity with basic statistical methods such as linear regression, and visualization methods such as scatter plots, time course plots/analysis and the use of percentiles for descriptive analysis. Experience with statistical software packages a plus
  • Strong in applied analytics using empirical data to support decision recommendations
  • Must either have a background in the video game industry or be an avid gamer
  • Excellent SQL skills with the ability to write queries for relational databases preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics strongly preferred
  • Advanced Degree preferred in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Business Administration
