Position Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the mechanical developments in the areas of design, documentation, development, schedule and testing of new and existing products by following good engineering practices. The responsibilities include activities and inputs into the design process, product design, manufacturing, and subsequent product support as required. It is expected that this individual demonstrates the ability to apply advanced engineering principles to complex issues. The individual is expected to be a participant in overall mechanical designs. Working in a cross functional team with marketing, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering is essential. The designs produced by this individual and the technical members of the team are to be cost effective and meet the overall product specifications established and meet project goals such as timeline attainment and project budget.

The individual must demonstrate with minimal direction the attributes of good: planning, driving for results, customer (both internal and external) focus, planning abilities, good creativity, and problem solving abilities, in addition to good written and oral communication skills.

The individual must demonstrate attributes such as technical competency, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

May support the marketing department in the analysis of customer need (VOC) and in the development of product specifications.
·
Develops a timeline for the developments and is accountable for it.
·
Develops products or technology that meets the overall specifications, either individually or as a member of the team, or leading a team.
·
Provides accurate and effective design and/or technology input to the team.
·
Insures that proper documentation is completed, on a timely basis.
·
Provides cost effective designs
·
Participates in other aspects of the product development such as: solving manufacturing issues, product performance, product improvements, and value engineering.
·
Demonstrates ability to apply advanced mechanical engineering principles and theories to complex issues. Demonstrates broad knowledge in field.
·
Interfaces effectively with other departments in the solution of problems or issues.
·
Applies effective team skills in attaining the goals of the team and the products.
·
Maintains confidentiality as required by the project and the department. - May mentor and coach lower level mechanical engineers on a project basis.

Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
·


A Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering
·
4 - 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering with Project Management responsibilities
·
MS with 2 to 4 years of experience.
·
Individual must have demonstrated success in product and/or technology development.
TECHNICAL SKILLS :
·
CAD modeling skills (3D: SOLIDWORKS)
·
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
·
Knowledge of manufacturing fabrication processes
·
DFM
·
Knowledge of design of machine elements
·
Well rounded knowledge of Microsoft Office
