As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have primary responsibility for leading research and development projects on next generation turbomachinery lifing technologies for power generation and propulsion equipments. The candidate will also be responsible to develop new ideas & identify new areas for technical advancement within the Energy & Propulsion Technologies organization.
Identify key technical issues and focus resources to produce cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in physics-based lifing technologies.
Lead the research and development projects for the next generation turbomachinery lifing technologies
Provide technical expertise in the area of turbomachinary lifing technologies
Communicate results to counterparts in the research center and at the GE businesses.
Document results through patent applications, technical reports and publications.
Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineer, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines with at least 8 years post-degree experience OR Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 11 years post-degree experience in turbomachinery lifing.
Demonstrate strong technical skills in solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, mechanical behavior of materials, finite element methods (including advanced meshing tools and non-linear analysis) & life predication.
Demonstrate hands-on experience with one or more commercial finite element codes (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS, LS-DYNA).
Demonstrated project leadership experience, including successful track of competing deliverables on schedule and on budget.
Proven record of innovation.
Proven ability to motivate and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
