SNVC is seeking a Sr. Oracle Database Administrator to join the National Guard Advanced Information Technology Systems (AITS) Program in Falls Church, VA.
The successful candidate will serve as a database analyst in support of the program’s web and database applications. The Sr. Oracle Database Administrator will perform extremely complex Oracle database administration assignments essential to the production and development of database management systems (DBMS) applications. Assignments, which are in direct support of software development and maintenance teams, include database analysis, design, and development, security support, design, and performance monitoring and tuning. Reviews and ensures integrity via standardized support tools. Ensures that assignments are performed in accordance with database administration guidelines, standards and procedures for applications development, implementation, testing, and migration. Effectively utilizes CMMI Level 5 Configuration Management processes and tools. Responds to complex customer-reported systems problems. Evaluates and recommends use of software, guidelines, and procedures. Daily activities include building, maintaining and troubleshooting databases on Oracle 10g in Production, Development and Test labs; evaluation and installation of Oracle CPU patches; designing/coding the upgrade/migration from Oracle 10g to 11g to ensure use of latest technology; writing database documentation including installation instructions; coordination with Application Development Teams for database support of release activities; creation of scripts for task automation.
Must be able to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have nine (9) years of progressive IT experience in software engineering and system integration
Must have three (3) years of specialized functional experience that must include responsibility for a development and maintenance of a large project in your subject matter expertise in the past five(5) years
Knowledge of designing, developing, and implementing large scale Oracle 10g and 11g databases, in particular experience with PL/SQL, Oracle Replication, Data Pump and Flashback. Data Modeling experience is highly desired
Good oral and written communication skills and ability to convey technical information is highly desired
Knowledge of the DOD Army Reserve and National Guard programs is desired
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related IT discipline
7 years of work experience can be substituted for 4 yr degree.
A Master’s degree in an IT related discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of general and specialized experience.
