Investment Reporting & Analysis is the official producer of performance reporting for internal Fidelity clients. Team members are highly knowledgeable in all aspects of performance and risk measurement for funds, indices, and peer groups. The group is a multi-site group with representation in both Boston and Merrimack. As a member of the Investment Reporting & Analysis Group, the primary objectives of the Senior Performance Analyst position are to prepare, review, and oversee the critical performance reports for internal clients. The Senior Performance Analyst will work to streamline existing reports and processes. Efficiency gains will be critical to the success of the group. The Performance Analyst will work directly in projects including creating requirements, test cases, and participating in UAT and implementation. The Senior Performance Analyst will assist in expanding the analysis/support capabilities of the team by providing insight through point in time and trended analyses and reports including Fidelity funds and peer data involving aggregations up to the firm level. The intent of this information is to augment decision making of senior management across the investment advisors. The Senior Performance Analyst interacts with many groups across the company including FMR Co Senior Management, Investment Capabilities Management, Portfolio Managers, FMR Co Finance, Corporate Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as other groups within the larger department including the Regulatory Reporting teams of Shareholder/Portfolio Manager Disclosure and Board. The Senior Performance Analyst interacts with these various groups to analyze performance related issues and set precedents for performance reporting policies.
The Senior Performance Analyst is responsible for utilizing a proprietary database as well as third party software to report performance information. Accuracy is crucial as it impacts decisions made by Investment Management. The Performance Analyst will be exposed to many Fidelity products and departments throughout the organization.
Work on highly visible daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reports for internal clients including Senior Management for Investment Advisors, Portfolio Managers, Marketing, Product Management, and Finance. Take ownership of the critical performance information that goes to Fidelity’s internal clients. Calculate, review, and proof critical performance information in reports including fund and benchmark returns and fund percent beaten. Formalize and enhance existing processes and procedures. Build effective relationships with all the clients. Develop, automate, and enhance performance reports. Assist analysts with report reviews, troubleshooting, and creation. (30%)
Participate in various performance related departmental projects. Work with clients to understand their needs and ensure new requirements are researched and developed. Deliver the requirements, prepare test cases, and participate in the testing and implementation. Work with Performance Analysts, FMR Co Systems, Developers, and Business Analysts on projects from the planning stages to completion. Seek opportunities to provide value added solutions for the business and its clients. (30%)
Perform analysis at various levels. Ad hoc analysis may include, but is not limited to, assisting FMR Co Finance, Investment Management, IAG, etc. in preparation of materials for presentations, methodology changes that impact performance calculations, and third party calculation analysis. Analysis includes Fidelity funds performance as well as non-Fidelity funds (peers) and appropriate benchmarks. (20%)
Work as part of a team on ad hoc requests for performance information from various groups within the firm while building effective relationship with requestors. Utilize multiple tools (both proprietary and third party) to gather information and conduct the necessary research for each request. Seek areas where recurring requests arise and look for ways to standardize these requests. Mentor other analysts on requests and review data before distribution to clients. (20%)
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Business (Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics). Graduate Business degree/CFA or progress towards one preferred
Work experience of 7-8 years in financial services industry. 2-3 performance or competitive analysis experience preferred.
Solid knowledge of mutual fund industry and fund accounting concepts
Knowledge of databases
