Applies standard engineering procedures and techniques to complete well defined design tasks in the area of plumbing, piping, and utility system design. Knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Coordinates engineering reports, studies, calculations and checks drawings as required. Is capable of producing documentation for issue to client for small projects. Supervises work of CAD drafters. Makes inspections of construction work and prepares inspection reports. Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality work.
Conducts investigations to determine scope of project work.
Participates in conferences with clients to establish project objectives and resolve problems.
Familiar with basic piping design and be capable of performing routine dimensional calculations regarding piping layout, pipe sizing, and equipment arrangement.
Perform routine manual calculations regarding piping design for liquids and gases such as calculation of pressure drop and pipe sizing and also the selection of valves. Should have basic familiarity with ANSI/ASME B31.1 and B31.3 piping codes.
Proficient with plumbing system design including ability to interpret and apply plumbing codes.
Familiar with basic welding terminology and symbols.
Familiar with materials of construction in regard to material compatibility with various service conditions for equipment and piping.
Have a basic familiarity with fire protection system design including ability to interpret and apply fire protection code.
Capable of checking and approve shop drawings.
Other Required Skills:
Proficient with either AutoCAD or Microstation. REVIT experience desirable.
Must have acceptable level of verbal and written communication skills.
Must have strong interpersonal skills including working respectfully with others.
Must demonstrate strong ethical behavior while striving to produce quality work within agreed to project budgets and schedules.
