Under the administrative direction of the Current Planning Managers of the Department of Planning and Community Development, this position will manage the zoning processes for the City of Greensboro and serve as the lead staff for the Zoning Commission. The employee in this position will serve as the main point of contact, provides customer service related to zoning issues, especially rezoning (including all required documentation), zoning interpretations, project management and State and local requirements for zoning matters. The qualified candidate also serves as alternate staff for the City’s Board of Adjustment and has primary responsibility for amending and maintaining the Land Development Ordinance.
This position does require attendance at evening meetings of the Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.
This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Bachelor’s degree with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in planning, public administration, or related field.
AICP, CZO or other zoning or planning related professional certification (indicate on application)
Prior experience staffing public boards or commissions (indicate on application)
Prior GIS experience
Valid Driver’s License
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred
Master’s Degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience related in zoning, public administration or related fields.
Knowledge of legislative (zoning) and quasi-judicial (special use permits, variances) proceedings (indicate on application)
Prior experience in Web editing maintenance of online codes and ordinances (indicate on application)
