You will define and execute on Ooyala's advertising and monetization strategy; building products that help the leading media companies drive increasing advertising (and subscription) revenue. You will be the advertising expert educating the sales/SE teams on everything advertising, defining product specifications on ad integrations with the product team and authoring collateral, documentation and advertising best practices with the documentation team. You will be directly responsible for the ideation, development, launch and marketing of new products and features.
Responsibilities:
Define Ooyala's advertising and monetization strategy; develop a business case and execute on the Ooyala vision to help publishers and content owners drive more advertising revenue from their sites/apps.
Own the product roadmap for advertising. Collect feedback from customers and then work with a cross-functional team to develop and launch new products and features
In addition to developing clear and detailed PRDs, you will work with our user experience team to build products that are useful, functional and beautiful
Develop positioning for new product launches and communicate it internally (to sales, finance, account management and the broader organization) and to the market by working with corporate and field marketing
Have a clear understanding of the competitive landscape and how Ooyala products compete against other similar products in the marketplace
Document best practices on advertising integrations with the top Ad platforms (Doubleclick, Tremor Media) and Ad Managers (Freewheel, YuMe, Liverail and Auditude)
Create product specifications (PRDs) for the integrations with the top platforms as mentioned above based on best practices
Work with the Ooyala documentation team to create training collateral, documentation about Ooyala's advertising integrations
Educate the sales team with the high level overview of the advertising ecosystem
Education of the SE team about Ad Management Platforms, Ad Networks, Ad Platforms, Buy and Sell side dynamics, Typical functionality around campaign management, Ad Targeting, Yield Management etc.
Be the advertising expert by working with the sales/SE teams on due-diligence efforts with prospects, current customer implementations.
Deliver high quality products on time
Requirements:
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field (MBA, MS or Ph.D is preferred)
5+ years of experience as a product manager in the software field for either web, e- commerce, enterprise, or media companies. Prior experience as a software developer is highly desirable
Proven experience designing online products used by millions of consumers and dozens of companies. Solid understanding of web technology
Track record as a lead product-manger for at least one product that generated more than $10MM in revenue
Experience working at startup companies with direct involvement at achieving profitability Deep knowledge of the product development life-cycle and an ability to describe in detail the workflow between product management, design, engineering, and test. Experience running agile teams a plus
Experience working with customers and deriving product priorities Managed multiple product backlogs and facilitate prioritization discussions with a diverse group of stakeholders
Video Ad Operations implementation experience with most of the major ad networks/servers. Key experience areas are DFP & Freewheel for Flash and mobile.
OVP ad integration experience with The Platform, Brightcove, Ooyala & Kaltura is a plus.
A clear understanding of business ad logic, (cascades, remnant inventory, CPM optimization, re-targeting, etc)
Knowledge around the larger ad space, (ad analytics, cross device ad personalization, etc)
An understanding of static advertising for mobile applications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience in authoring technical documentation, product whitepapers and presentations to sales teams is a plus
