Job Focus Details:
The Senior Programmer/Consultant will provide systems administration/programming, systems integration and technical support for web-based instructional applications, specifically Blackboard Learning Management System, Blackboard Building Blocks and third-party instructional and social networking applications that integrate with Blackboard. Primary responsibilities include faculty support for enterprise applications, specifically Blackboard. S/he will offer consultation and training for the campus community, develop training materials integrating multimedia and web-based content. S/he will work closely with the faculty in support of face-to-face and online instruction, design learning environments, develop web-based learning tools and strategies, facilitate educational assessment, and provide general support for academic goals.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support the use of information technology in teaching, learning and research. Provide consulting, training and programming services. Support application software and related hardware. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for ensuring the quality of information technology services that support the instructional mission of the College.

Essential Job Functions
-Provide training and consulting on the use of information technology in teaching, learning and research.
-Develop, implement, and maintain software applications and related hardware.
-Develop programs and utilities to improve the effectiveness and integrity of existing information systems.
-Install, test and administer existing third-party software applications in compliance with vendor specifications.
-Maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot installed hardware and software.
-Support initiatives for faculty development.
-Maintain proficiency with application packages in assigned areas of responsibility.
-Assist in the documentation of programs, applications packages, and procedures. and the preparation of communications for the user community.
-Work with management to interpret and communicate institutional policy, objectives and regulations.
-Provide on-going assessments of services and programs to be used by management in the evaluation of User Support Services functions and responsibilities.
-Engage in professional development activities to stay current in the field, and assist in the continuing professional development and the mentoring of staff and students.
-Assist in developing grants, funding and resources for technology initiatives in collaboration with faculty and staff as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree; a minimum of four years of experience in information technology.
Preferred: Master's degree and experience in an instructional support capacity in higher education.
