Senior Reservoir Engineer position to contribute engineering perspectives and coordination to a multi-disciplinary Corporate Exploration team composed of geologists, geophysicists, engineers and landmen. Position will assume a team role in managing efforts to identify, evaluate, and test new venture growth opportunities. Provide detailed technical analyses, economic evaluations, and recommendations on exploration projects. Individual in this position will serve as an engineering authority on assignments requiring in depth knowledge of reservoir engineering.

Perform field and reservoir studies of existing assets to assess unconventional resource potential

Identify new plays by monitoring competitor leasing, permitting and development activity and studying associated geological and engineering reports

Work with geoscientists and petrophysicists to interpret and analyze attributes of existing wells as well as geologic and seismic data to develop reservoir characterization models

Identify and evaluate technical and economic merits, and make recommendations on exploratory oil and gas investment opportunities

Provide estimations of resource volumes and recoverable hydrocarbons using both probabilistic and deterministic methods for resource and exploration opportunities

Work with Drilling, Operations and other functional engineering departments to coordinate optimal test well & completion design and costing, production requirements and lease operating cost estimates

Perform comprehensive economic analysis including risk and profitability for project or acquisition AFE’s and recommend course of action

Coordinate the creation of AFE’s for project entry and exploration drilling

Present recommendations and justifications to management seeking authority to acquire leases and test exploration concepts

Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities

Other duties as assigned

B.S. degree in Petroleum (preferred), Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required

Minimum of 8 years of applicable engineering experience

Advanced knowledge and practical application of volumetric calculations, decline curve reserve determinations, appropriate analog techniques, and material balance assessments

Experience with conventional oil and gas reservoirs and unconventional resource plays. Exposure to horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and multi-basin experience is a plus

Experience with a variety of reservoir types, depletion scenarios and development scenarios

Solid understanding of engineering economic evaluations

Knowledge of Aries or other economic evaluation software programs

Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office

Experience with stimulation and reservoir modeling is a plus

Experience with industry/company software including: Risk Analysis Software (MMRA, UCRA, Crystal Ball, @ Risk), OFM, AFEN, Wellview, & Data Cube training is a plus

Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects

Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment

Excellent communication skills including: written, verbal and formal presentation

Applies specialized knowledge in the completion of projects

Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Periodic travel to datarooms, conferences, and regional offices
