The Preclinical and Translational PKPD Department at Genentech, Inc. is looking for a strong scientific and strategic leader to head its Investigative PKPD group in South San Francisco. We are looking to fill this key position in support of discovery and development of protein therapeutics. We seek an exceptional scientist who is driven to identify and investigate key scientific issues related to the ADME and PKPD of exciting and novel drug candidates in the area of BioOncology, Immunology, Neurology, Ophthalmology and Metabolic diseases. The candidate will also be responsible for developing novel scientific tools to understand factors that affect the bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of mAbs including antibody drug conjugates, and leverage it for the selection and development of therapeutic candidates. Another important component of the job will be to support and further drive the drug delivery strategies in neurology and ophthalmology. The candidate will be accountable for the group’s goals and deliverables; fostering communication and collaboration with key stakeholders and partners, and championing improvement initiatives to further the group’s efficiency and effectiveness.

Candidates should have an excellent academic and professional track record supported by a large body of publications in peer-reviewed journals, a history of developing tools and strategies for understanding the ADME/PK and drug delivery of protein therapeutics, and be recognized as a drug development leader in the field. You are also expected to have strong laboratory and experimental skills in ADME/PK of protein therapeutics. The candidate must have experience in conducting investigative work and demonstrated the ability to work independently and effectively. The candidate should have the ability to lead, manage and inspire a diverse group of scientists and research associates. The candidate should be an innovative and analytical thinker, and a problem solver. Strong communication and collaboration skills are also essential for this position as is the ability to distill complex issues, and to clearly articulate solutions. We are looking for individuals with strong enthusiasm about taking a hands-on approach, being a team player, and leading the science in PKPD and drug delivery.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, or related discipline. At least 8 years of industry or post-doctoral experience is required.
