Job Description
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) a nationally and internationally recognized research and development lab based in Washington State is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with Spring/Hibernate experience.

Researchers in the SEA group have the knowledge and experience to design, develop, install and operate complex software systems in support of clients across PNNL''s customer base.
The expertise in our group includes systems architectures, software systems engineering, software systems development, and data and information management for large and diverse data (streaming and static).
The selected individual will support these capabilities across all phases of the software application development cycle, and may also provide task and project management support.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects having national impact as a member of a team of Computer Science professionals.
They will be expected to participate in independent and team software design/development activities, including requirements analysis, system architecture, user experience design, code development, testing, and deployment support. Developers also support outreach activities and client interaction through efforts including written communications, demonstrations, and presentations about technical activities.

The principal accountabilities of this position include:
Software development and programming using Java technologies, including Swing and/or Hibernate, the Spring framework, and Eclipse
Web application development technologies including web services, and XML
Mobile application development
Technical leadership on software development projects
Architectural design and integration of complex systems and software
Algorithmic development and implementation
Project management of small to moderate projects
Presentations to clients, collaborators, and peers
Contributions to publications and proposals
Use of software design and development tools, including Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as the Eclipse Framework
Use of source code revision control tools
Software testing, including the creation of test plans and the development of unit and system tests
Creation and management of software documentation
Development on Linux / Unix and Windows environments
SQL programming and database expertise
Development of client server and database aware applications
Implementation and design of graphical user interface (GUI)
This positions day to day activities are very independent, often responsible for setting project scope and deliverables for small and medium projects.
The incumbent will report directly to the SEA Technical Group Manager.
The incumbent will work both as task lead, and as a staff member under the direction of project managers and senior software scientists.
The incumbent will be expected to attend regular project meetings and SEA group meetings.
The incumbent may also be expected to attend offsite team meetings with other team members, clients, and users.
Minimum Requirements

Level II:
A Bachelor''s degree with 2-3 years experience or a Master''s degree with 0-2 years experience or a Ph.D. is required.
Expected to contribute professionally, building a professional reputation for technical expertise.
Fully applying and interpreting standard theories, principles, methods, tools and technologies.
All staff at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory must be able to demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.

Level III:
Bachelor''s degree plus 10 years experience; or advanced degree plus 8 years of experience.

Qualifications
Expertise in Java software development required with experience with Spring, Hibernate, Eclipse and/or mobile application development preferred.
Experience with developing database aware applications for any of the following databases: Access, SQLServer, and Oracle
Preferred Education/Credential
Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 3 or more years of experience.

In addition, applicants must be able to demonstrate non-use of illegal drugs for the 12 consecutive months preceding completion of the requisite Questionnaire for National Security Positions (QNSP).
