Senior Software Engineer – EAD

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for taking ownership of large parts of projects and seeing them through to completion. Other responsibilities include developing code to departmental standards, communicating with business analysts and quality assurance to understand both requirements and defects, writing technical specifications outlining development tasks, and mentoring junior developers.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the .NET framework and the appropriate client side frameworks to develop multi-tiered web applications consisting of reusable components and services

  • Document and diagram the design of solution interfaces, implementations, and dependencies

  • Provide detailed task definitions and time estimates for project deliverables

  • Create unit tests to ensure functional integrity of solutions

  • Troubleshoot application issues down to the network protocol level

  • Oversee and mentor junior development team members

  • Participate in code reviews and play an active role in ensuring best practices are enforced in all team development work

  • Communicate effectively with requirements and QA groups


  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical/scientific discipline from an accredited academic institution, or 7 years experience in web application development

  • 5+ years web application development

  • 5+ years object-oriented programming principles and techniques

  • 5+ years ASP.NET or Java EE development

  • 5+ years MVC application development

  • 5+ years relational database design

  • 5+ years network-based server-to-server communications

  • 3+ years automated unit and integration testing methodologies

  • 2+ years JavaScript framework

  • SQL: 2+ to 5 years required

  • XML: 5+ to 7 years required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Test-driven development experience

  • Rich internet application development using AJAX and jQuery

  • Core JavaScript

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Leadership/supervisory experience

  • Positive attitude and team player

  • Strong analytical abilities
