Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Accounts, the successful candidate provides superior customer service to students, families, outside collection agencies, Federal Perkins Loan servicer and staff with inquiries on the student/loan account. Acts as a liaison between outside collection agencies and loan servicer to report accounts that have been prepared for collection activity, prepare information requested by the agency to pursue accounts, and complete research necessary to present for settlement. Reconcile and post payments received from collection agencies to update student records as well as maintain all comments and restriction codes for collection accounts. Prepare appropriate placement forms for quarterly write off. Prepare accounts for upload to Perkins Loan servicer to record new loan amounts as well as other functions related to the servicing of the Federal Perkins Loan program. Reconcile student receivable general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy in account maintenance for year-end close.
The candidate will also be expected to provide back-up to the Student Account Counselors during peak periods as well as assist with University check–in and open houses.
- Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience with the Federal Perkins Loan program preferred.
- Two years of experience working in higher education, preferably in a customer service/collections environment.
- Accounts receivable experience required.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
