Parsons is seeking an electrical engineer with significant experience in electrical utility T&D engineering and design. Specifically, we are looking for a Senior Substation Electrical Engineer to provide outstanding technical leadership to our team of professionals engaged in substation electrical engineering and design for major electric utility clients. This position can be based out of our Syracuse, NY or Boston, MA office.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the substation electrical design from the initial conceptual / feasibility study and cost estimating phase through detailed design, installation, and startup phases. As such you will plan, direct, and supervise the work of our electrical engineers and designers engaged in delivering the electrical and physical design and installation of new and modified high voltage substations, systems, and equipment. The work will entail preparing of high, medium, and low voltage substation (up to 500KV) drawings including one line and three line diagrams, physical equipment arrangement plans, grounding and lighting plans, and defining protective relay and metering schemes for high and medium voltage busses, breakers, circuit switchers, reclosers, and transformers. This position also entails being engaged in the preparation of high, medium, and low voltage substation equipment procurement, installation, and testing specifications, bid documents, bid evaluations, and contract management. This position also will require participation in proposal development and client business development presentations and meetings.
8+ years of professional experience in substation physical and electrical design.
Extensive and current substation (up to 500KV) design deliverable experience including single line diagram development, protective relaying and metering definition, advanced power system analysis, physical design drawing development, grounding and lighting drawings and calculations, and equipment specification and procurement.
Working knowledge and experience with applicable software such as ETAP, EDSA, SKM, and CDEGS.
Extensive knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, IEC, NERC/RFC as well as applicable NFPA/NEC codes.
BS in electrical engineering power systems required. .
Electrical engineering PE and NCEES registration are preferred.
