Summary: Applies principles of tax and accounting to analyze financial information and prepare regulatory filings by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Collects appropriate data and prepares state and local personal property and/or sales/use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
Distributes expenditures according to schedules.
Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes.
Reviews contracts, orders, and vouchers to ensure compliance with state and local tax requirements.
Monitors and reviews related system reports for completeness and accuracy.
Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Sarbanes-Oxley 404 control procedures, and company procedures.
Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
Prepares or assists in preparation of schedules to be provided to the external and internal auditors.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position currently has no supervisory responsibility.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and five to seven years related experience and/or training. Certified Public Accountant license preferred but not required.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: The employee must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
May require ability to work over 40 hours per week.
