Lippincott’s Experience Innovation practice is a multidisciplinary group ranging from designers and architects to strategist focused on consumer insights and innovation. This group of highly talented individuals works in a collaborative fashion across a broad range of categories including hospitality, automotive, financial services, healthcare, retail, and consumer electronics. The experience innovation group works principally from the New York City office for clients globally on projects including brand, product and service creation, vision planning, experience design and enhancement and market opportunity identification.

The UX Designer / Strategist will be an integral part of our Experience Innovation practice. As part of a collaborative team, he/she will work closely with strategists, designers, architects, writers, and others to develop, design, and deliver innovative experiences for Lippincott’s diverse portfolio of clients. In particular, he/she will be responsible for developing and designing the user experience for a wide range of digitally enabled experiences. These experiences could range from simple web interactions to cross-device, highly integrated, digital activations that connect seamlessly with physical experiences. The successful candidate will understand what a digital-first mindset means and have experience developing mobile and contextually aware consumer engagement. They should be curious, imaginative, a strong problem solver, good communicator, with a strong visual design orientation.


Work closely with project team to understand client objectives and business requirements

Work with the Strategy team to develop and help guide research development, and incorporate insights into project work

Develop user experience strategy that ties to broader brand strategy and/or business requirements, and develop conceptual digital activations that bring the UX strategy to life

Build and translate the customer experience journey into meaningful stories of engagement that guide UX design and delivery

Design wire frames or other schematic illustrations to detail out interactions

Take user experience strategy and design through to implementation and execution, working with front-end developers and technologists, as necessary

Work collaboratively with the Design team to translate schematics into the final experience

Develop concept test and validation plans using methods such as participatory design sessions, focus groups, UX testing, ABn testing or other methods of confirming design impact and implications

Manage and own multiple projects from start to finish within budget/scheduling parameters

Structure and integrate overall project work — beyond specific project tasks — for self and others on multiple projects simultaneously

Act as day-to-day contact for client interactions

Play significant role in formal and informal presentations for all types of projects

Direct junior team members in creative effort toward developing relevant design solutions

Review project tasks/analysis completed by junior-level staff and provide constructive feedback

Help develop, train, motivate and act as a mentor for junior staff

Contribute actively to the development of intellectual capital

Assist in the business development process and new business presentations, (e.g., compile information, assist in proposal writing, participate in presentation, as required)

Help develop/write project case studies

Perceive, recommend and help develop proposals for business expansion opportunities

Assist in interviewing and recruiting efforts

Qualifications and skills

Bachelor’s degree preferably in any of the following: UX/UI Design, Communication Design, Graphic Design or Human Computer Interaction

7+ years UX design experience with 2-3 years digital strategy experience

Experience working with digital to physical interaction design desired

Highly creative and innovative with the ability to formulate compelling solutions

The ability to clearly articulate and express thoughts and ideas verbally and via presentations

Flexible, ambitious, curious, and broad thinking

Awareness of current digital, social, and consumer trends and technology

Ability to work successfully in a team oriented environment

Excellent organizational skills

Project management experience a plus

Proficiency in MS Visio and Adobe suite; OmniGraffle proficiency a plus

Experience building dynamic prototypes desired
