This position will perform a variety of repair and maintenance duties for student residences, kitchens, equipment and building structures including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, plastering and locksmithing. Respond to and prioritize work orders. Troubleshoot to diagnose problem and determine repair or maintenance required.
High school diploma or GED.
Two years general maintenance work experience
Interpersonal competencies in communication, customer focus and teamwork.
Competencies in judgment, dependability/accountability, flexibility, initiative and planning/organizing.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers.
Proficiency in basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, painting, plastering and locksmithing.
Mechanical aptitude and leadership skills helpful.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics and written and verbal instructions, perform basic math functions, lift and move up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and stand, walk or stoop extensively.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
Personal computer literacy.
Familiarity with University policies regarding building maintenance and security.
Valid driver's license.
Days and hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Summer hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Occasional overtime may be required.
A Background Check will be required for employment in this position
FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible For Overtime).
Retirement Eligibility: PERF Contributions Immediately.
