GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES : P erforms semi-skilled to skilled custodial, grounds, parks, or other maintenance work for an assigned department of the City. Employees in this class are responsible for accomplishing duties that provide the City and the public with safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient areas in which to work, conduct business, and/or enjoy leisure and recreation. Employees in this class may be assigned to support a specific functional area wherein duties are defined according to the assignment. Areas of assignment may also include the Solid Waste Divisions of Administration, Residential, Horticultural, and Commercial. Incumbents function independently or accomplish duties as part of a work crew, according to assignment. Essential functions as outlined herein are performed according to the department/area of assignment. Performs related work as directed.

Typical Qualifications:
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or GED; supplemented by minimum three (3) years previous experience demonstrating knowledge, skills, or abilities in one (1) of the work areas outlined herein, and ability to fulfill the physical demands of the assigned work area; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; possession of a valid Florida driver license, class “E” required and possession and maintenance of a driving record which meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards. May be required to possess a valid Florida class “B” driver’s license with airbrakes, depending on location of position.

ADA COMPLIANCE : Physical Ability : When primarily assigned to custodial duties, t asks involve the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds). When primarily assigned to roadways/grounds/parks/beaches maintenance, tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds). Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds. Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Environmental Factors : Tasks may risk exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, and/or disease.
