How you will contribute:
Duties of this position would include fabricating and assembling ductwork systems for heating, ventilation, & air conditioning. Sheet metal workers select the gauge and type of sheet metal according to the product being fabricated and their knowledge of metals and their properties. This position includes setting up and operating fabricating machines - such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses - to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Additional responsibilities would include programming and operating computerized metalworking equipment and setting up and operating welding equipment to join together sheet metal parts.
What you need to qualify:
Sheet metal apprentice applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must meet required norms on aptitude tests. You can stand out above other candidates by demonstrating the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, by displaying basic mechanical skills, and having good problem-solving skills.
