In this critical role, the Shift Supervisor is a Leader whose responsibility it is to manage the day to day activities related to the safety of employees, production and quality of products, adherence to established processes, management of assigned personnel and facility operations for injection, multi-layer and/or injection blow molding operations on the night shift. Appropriately utilizes manpower, equipment, and materials. Ensures attainment of productions schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed customers’ expectations.
Works to establish management practices throughout assigned area which includes all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input and action. Continually improves safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes while ensuring compliance of all safety procedures. Reviews and monitors production output and product quality. Modifies existing processes or introduces new methods / ideas to enhance profitable operations and reduce waste.
Understands and applies current manufacturing techniques such as Lean Principles, 5-S, etc. to ensure efficient and effective operations. Understands and applies metrics to evaluate performance in key operating areas (throughput, quality, efficiencies, output, scrap, etc.). Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: interviewing, hiring, training, directing, coaching, rewarding and disciplining, developing an ongoing performance plan and appraising the performance of all direct reports.
Knowledge, skills and experience
The successful applicant will possess a High School Diploma, as well as a minimum of four to six years of experience in a medical device manufacturing or other FDA regulated industry. Must demonstrate well-developed supervisory, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner by managing the process of mitigating team conflict and communication problems. . Possesses knowledge on injection molding basics, tooling, materials, processing, etc. Understands and practices Lean / 6 Sigma principles.
Ability to effectively hire, train, direct, coach and develop an ongoing performance plan for all direct reports by setting and communicates clear expectations and holds personnel accountable for attaining those standards.
