Cargill Salt is seeking a Shipping/Warehouse Supervisor for their Watkins Glen, NY manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include supervising and developing 12-14 direct reports across a 24/7 operation and day-to-day management of the warehouse and shipping operation. Position requires effective collaboration and partnering within the facility and across the business unit with customer service, transportation, supply chain and operations.
This role is responsible for operational performance in terms of safety, quality, efficiency, and cost within the shipping/warehousing department. Supports continuous improvement initiatives. Enhances the skills, knowledge, and abilities of team members. Applies company policies and work rules towards team members consistent with the needs of the business. This includes, but is not limited to, coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution and giving performance reviews and feedback to employees. Effectively utilize the SAP warehouse management software to assist with organizing and management of the company’s processes for shipping and recieving records, inventory and cycle counts.
The individual in this role will need to have a comprehensive understanding of production parameters for all products, product mix and supply and demand issues affecting product availablitiy. Be a liaison and effective communicator between various stakeholders such as operations, supply chain, customer service, transportation, customers, truck drivers and railroad personnel.

30% - Process optimization; manage department budget, projects, and maintenance
20% - Manage and promote safety, food safety, quality processes and housekeeping.
20% - Ensure compliance with all Cargill, state, federal, and environmental guidelines and regulations including health & safety, air emissions, storm water management, security, housekeeping, food safety, etc.
4 year degree or equivalent work experience
One or more years of supervisory experience in a warehouse and/or distribution environment
Ability to create an environment conducive to teamwork; strong interpersonal skills
Possess a sense of ethics and an interpersonal and management style that lends itself to promoting a positive work culture.
Proficiency in using computer programs/systems including but not limited to:
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to at least the Intermediate level.
Excellent organizational skills – able to prioritize and plan activities and the work of others, allocate resources, and achieve results within the constraint of budgetary targets. Be a leader of execution.
Proven skills in the use of key performance indicators (KPI) to monitor, manage and improve operational performance.
Experience using one or more problem solving/root cause analysis techniques, e.g., 5 Why.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong listening skills
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management,
Distribution, Business Management, or related areas of study.
Three or more years of first-line supervisory experience in a warehouse and/or distribution environment
Mechanical aptitude demonstrated in previous roles
Project management and equipment installation experience
Proven success in EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)
Working knowledge of SAP Enterprise Warehouse Management System
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
