This position has the responsibility of supervising the day to day activities of the shipping & receiving dock.
Responsible for supervising employees who use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, hand carts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within the warehouse.
This role requires the ability to assess and delegate tasks to a small staff while also managing their own.
This is a hands-on supervisory role with about 85% of the time spent handling shipping duties such as: preparing U.S. Government forms including DD250 and DD1149, processing shipping documents through the WAWF system and preparing international freight shipment documentation including but not limited to: Commercial Invoices, AES filing, Shipper’s Export Declaration (SED), Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin and documents for hazardous material shipments. The shipping & receiving manager will be responsible for ensuring that the above documentation are processed in a timely manner, are accurately completed and are in compliance with company policies and U.S. regulations. The manager will also be responsible for obtaining quotes from freight forwarders, carriers and other suppliers related to shipping/packing services and reviewing contractual shipping terms. May assist in selecting appropriate containers and wrapping methods for materials to be shipped or stored. Coordinates with engineers, shippers, carton manufacturers and carpenters for special crating and packing requirements.
It is also the responsibility of the shipping & receiving manager to comply with all company, local, state and federal regulations. Specifically, the shipping & receiving manager shall have a working knowledge of U.S. Customs Regulations, FAA Regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations, Export Administration Regulations, INCOTERMS 2010 and domestic commercial terms which include F.O.B. Origin and F.O.B. Destination.
A candidate who has direct experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry is strongly preferred.
High School/GED or equivalent required
4 year college degree preferred
10-15 years of related experience required
software program and coordinating the crating/loading/securing of multi truck shipments including crane scheduling is desired.
