Houston 2-Way Radio, a Total Safety company, is looking for 1 lead supervisor and 2 Radio Shop Technicians to work in the radio room for the local LaPorte, TX District Office, servicing radios for shipment.

Process radios and operational accessories for customer rental based on reservations and call-in's from sales.

Install communications components such as mobile two-way radios, antenna systems, coaxial cable, and parts.

Perform functional and 'on-the-air' test of communication equipment (two-way radios, repeater systems, antenna systems, radio frequency transceivers of many types

Follow written and/or verbal instructions, and daily service schedules to do repairs

Repair customer units by replacing defective modules or components. Follow test procedures, schematics when available, and other instructions to troubleshoot to the component level (analog and digital circuitry) with the use of instrumentation and test aids

Troubleshoot equipment without schematics

Make modifications to electronic circuitry per customer requests and/or factory updates

Communicate with customers, other technicians or installers, and/or other company employees including sales account managers and company management

Fill out requisition for parts needed to perform repairs

Fill out repair report with a detailed failure analysis, noting correct assembly/model numbers, physical damage, cosmetic defects, functional defects, components replaced

Notifies supervisor when not meeting scheduled target dates

Interfaces with Service Manager on the completion of service projects and reports

Operate company owned vehicles

2+ years experience in similar job field

Fluent in using instrumentation (service monitors, oscilloscope, watt meters, frequency generator, frequency counter, etc.)

Knowledge of audio, RF, analog, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits found in communications equipment

Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams

Ability to operate fixed and adjustable measuring and testing equipment

Ability to use hand and power tools

Ability to be available for emergency work at any time of day or night.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

AS degree in Engineering, RF Communications or equivalent certification

Experience with FCC certification or equivalent desired
