Social Service Worker 1, 2 or 3 positions. Performs professional social service work in providing services to the public in one or multiple program areas. Work requires the use of a personal automobile for local travel. Employee is subject to on-call status during non-business hours. May be required to deal with situations which are potentially dangerous to client and worker. Performs related work as required. DHHR Bureau of Children and Families, homefinder positions may have casework responsibilities for: home recruitment, training of potential and ongoing providers, home study of the potential provider, certification/license renewal, corrective action plans, grievance preparation and attendance, daily inquiries about foster/ adoptive provision, court and MDT appearances.
Social Service Worker 3's provide social services in one or more of the following areas: foster care, emergency shelter care, youth services, community juvenile delinquency, single adolescent parent, adoption, Hartley program, Medley program, Medical Waiver Project, licensing specialist or other services at this level. This class may also be used for positions in certain geographic areas performing professional social work in a variety of program areas such as day care, generic social services, foster care and protective services. Positions may involve a significant, but not predominant, amount of protective services work.
Social Service Worker 2's may provide services in: nursing home placement, adult family care, pre-institutionalization, admission and aftercare, generic social services, homeless, reception social work, or related.
Social Service Worker 1's may provide services in: day care, chore services, personal care homes, information and referral, local health related, social services, home management. (Very few positions)

Special License Requirements: To qualify you must attach or provide by mail a document verifying your Social Work License OR your eligibility for a Temporary Social Work License (with "Eligibility Stamp") in accordance with the requirements of the WV Board of Social Work Examiners. If you do not have a current license, you MUST contact the Board and determine your eligibility BEFORE submitting an application for this job or testing.
A License as a Social Worker, WV Graduate Social Worker, or Certified Social Worker by the WV Board of Social Work Examiners is qualifying. You MUST attach or provide a document from the WV Board verifying that you are licensed or eligible for a temporary license. Contact the WV Board of Social Work Examiner to obtain an "eligibility stamp" document verifying that you meet the college degree and major field requirements. This document MUST be attached or submitted to complete the application process. You should do this as soon as possible to avoid missing a job opportunity. If you have previously submitted verification, you do not have to re-submit these documents.
An accredited bachelor's degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, Interpersonal Communications, Human Services, Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, or Secondary Education may be required to meet eligibility requirements.
