This position serves as the Adoption Services Manager within the Child Welfare Services section. This manager will ensure proper execution of the final filings for all children adopted within North Carolina. To ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and policies, the Division provides quality assurance efforts and technical assistance with local agencies to ensure this compliance. Additional duties include the oversight of staff who execute the Adoption Exchange services (NC Kids) as well as confidential intermediary policy assistance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
The successful candidate for this position will have a working knowledge of the laws, rules and policies related to the adoption of children in North Carolina. The candidate will need to demonstrate effective supervisory and leadership of individuals to provide support to all 100 county departments of social services as well as private child placing agencies. Emphasis is placed on ensuring good customer service is provided to all agency employees, their partners, and to the general public at large. Individual will need to have a strong attention to detail and demonstrate ability to use automated information systems and data to inform and improve program operations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
A master's degree in social work and three years of experience in social work including one year in a consultative or supervisory capacity; graduation from a four-year college or university, nine months of graduate training in social work, and four years of experience in social work including one year in a consultative or supervisory capacity; graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of experience in social work including two years in a consultative or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
