BronxWorks is a large social services organization with over 25 sites, serving individuals and families, from toddlers to seniors in the Bronx. One of the premier nonprofits in New York City, we have maintained steady growth since 1972.
The Bronx is a vibrant mixture of diversity, culture, and history juxtaposed with inner city life; a place to which many New Yorkers trace their roots. Today, the Bronx draws new residents hoping to better their lives. A diverse array of immigrants as well as long-time residents look to BronxWorks to help them adapt, learn, find jobs, secure housing, educate their children and support their seniors.
Every year at BronxWorks we change the lives of over 35,000 people:
FEED 1,750 households (about 5,250 individuals) by helping them get food stamps, while also providing over 350,000 meals to children, young adults, seniors, street homeless adults, and people impacted by HIV/AIDS.
SHELTER over 3,000 families (more than 5,000 children) at risk of eviction, preventing them from entering the shelter system. We house 276 homeless families in our Tier II family shelters and have decreased street homelessness in the Bronx by over 70% since 2005.
TEACH English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), citizenship, and computer classes to over 900 adults and seniors, and enroll over 2,000 youth in early learning, after-school, summer camp, and GED preparation programs.
SUPPORT over 1,500 Bronx residents with job readiness/skills training, placing over 650 adults into permanent jobs, and helping over 500 youth obtain summer jobs or internships. We offer legal assistance to over 500 immigrants and provide comprehensive support services to over 650 people.
Join our dynamic team as a Social Worker. We have exciting opportunities in programs that provide child abuse prevention, counseling, housing, care coordination, and other essential services.
