Hours: Mon-Fri, 24 hrs/week in the NICU
- Service Site: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU Summa/Akron City Hospital-Primary Site and Main Campus Akron Children’s Hospital-Secondary Site) Part Time
Shift: Days: Monday-9am-2pm, Tuesday-10am-2pm, Wednesday-10:30am-3:30pm, Thursday-9am-2pm, Friday-9am-2pm (some flexibility may be required)
Provides Clinical Social Work Services to patients and families in Akron Children’s 21 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit housed at Summa Health System. Occasional service at NICU or other units of the main campus of Akron Children’s Hospital. Conducts psychosocial assessments, intervention planning, psychosocial interventions and discharge planning to help premature and critically ill infants and their families. Identifies children that would benefit from Help Me Grow Early Intervention Services. Consults with and collaborates with other hospital and community care providers, services, and programs. Provides leadership and support to family-centered programs for patients and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units.
Licensed Social Worker with Master’s Degree in Social Work from accredited Social Work Academic Program (LISW strongly preferred). Prior clinical experience with pediatric patients with acute and chronic conditions and their families. Must have strong clinical skills and work well with patient care teams. Must be capable of managing a complex caseload. Must have knowledge about the needs of premature infants, drug exposed infants, adoption and the needs of families with limited supports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
