Join a team of extraordinary engineers working on challenging problems that directly benefit millions of travelers. As a Software Engineer, you will define and build new capabilities for our systems, working closely with airlines, travel agents, customers and other Google engineering teams. You will be working on one of the following projects on the Google Travel Team: Seat Availability, QPX, Inventory Control, or Data and Reporting.

Responsibilities:
Design and implement algorithms to make our search and systems more capable and more efficient

Design and implement fast server code to compute needed Search data

Design and build high throughput, low latency, scalable, highly available, and innovatively functional systems

Design and build user interfaces for our systems, working closely with our customers and users to meet their needs

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical field. In lieu of degree, 4 years work experience or professional programming experience

2 years relevant work experience, including large scale system design experience

Preferred Qualifications:
MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field

4 years relevant work experience, including programming experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Java, Lisp, Python with strong OO skills

Strong foundation in computer science, with core competencies in efficient data structures, algorithms, and software design

Experience building large distributed systems with multi-core architectures

Coding skills in JavaScript/AJAX; database design and SQL experience; and/or expertise in high-performance UNIX network programming and threading

Ability to read and understand complex domain-specific documents, and design and implement systems based on those documents
