Wayfair is a leader in the e-commerce space for things for the home (couches, end tables, lamps, and literally 5 million other items)...and #50 overall in the ecommerce rankings. HOWEVER, we're still small with that start-up feel within engineering. We're even in a continuous deployment model as we've always been.
What makes innovative, fast-paced Internet development at Wayfair different from traditional enterprise software development elsewhere?
You’ll deploy code to production within your first two weeks on the job.
You’ll learn more and be given more responsibility during your first year at Wayfair than you’re likely to get in your first three at most other companies.
You will be involved for the full project lifecycle – from concept to deployment – not just a step along the way.
You’ll work together with business leaders to brainstorm on how to solve the challenge at hand – not just take notes on decisions that have already been made.
You’ll take the first stab at coming up with the technical designs – not just be a code monkey for a more senior developer’s designs.
You’ll be exposed to the full spectrum of technologies involved, from the database to server-side business logic, to client-side user interface.
You’ll be surrounded by a world class team of some of the brightest Internet engineers around to help improve your designs and jumpstart your knowledge.
You’ll have easy access to upper management who WANT to hear your ideas for process and tools improvement.
If you are a college graduate with 1-3+ years of working experience, there is no better place for you to do it. Wayfair is growing every day.
Projects include working on our main e-commerce site to deliver a more engaging ecomm experience for our customers. As you’ll see from the new site design, we’ve abandoned the busyness that plagues most sites (even the big ones) and we’re working to more effectively court our users during their online experience. We have many concurrent projects currently that include everything from our revolutionary recommendation engine to the nano-second processing of orders.
An ideal candidate has:
A sense of humor
At least one year, but preferably 1-3, of software development work experience (ideally web development)
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
