Our client, a civilian federal agency in a beautiful NW DC location and Metro accessible, is looking for an experienced software developer who has done some mobile application development as well - preferrably an apple (iOS) developer, though Android or BlackBerry work is fine. Ultimately the client will transition to Phone Gap which will eliminate the need for native ap development. The ideal candidate should be comfortable performing several different tasks as business needs dictate, and should be comfortable learning new skills, perhaps BlackBerry and Android application development. You may also assist with the FoxPro migration, so if you do not know FoxPro, please at least be familiar with a database and understand what happens with lines of code. You should have a software development background in multiple languages, and have experience with the development of an enterprise mobile ap.

Project Overview:

At our client site in NW Washington DC, we are providing them with a wide range of IT support services. InfoWeb is a complex FoxPro application (which is currently being migrated to ColdFusion) that supports many key client services including finance, human resources, and general administrative support. This position will support the development/migration of key services to various mobile platforms.

Position Description:

Highly talented, creative, motivated and detail oriented software application developer with mobile application (iOS preferred) experience. Knowledge of xCode preferred as is knowledge of Objective-C.

Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Develop, enhance, maintain, document, and otherwise support mobile applications using standard toolkits and following prescribed standards and development methodologies.

Ensure development projects are delivered on schedule, on budget, and to specification.

Elicit requirements and develop detailed estimates for proposed initiatives.

Research technical issues and/or opportunities; provide recommendations.

Participate in ad hoc projects and assignments as required.

Work comfortably in a dynamic, multiple project atmosphere.

Daily Responsibilities:

Work with internal development team to design, code, test and document new mobile applications and features.

Work on code review and clean-up of existing application in FoxPro (FoxPro knowledge/experience is not necessary).

Create and maintain mobile applications.

Provide technical support to internal clients.

Understand system architecture with an eye to scalability and efficiency.

Work on ancillary projects as business needs dictate.

Education and Skill Requirements:

Bachelors degree in computer science or related field (Required Degree MayBe Waived In Lieu of Relevant Years of Work Experience)

5+ years of software development experience (Java/J2EE/C++ preferred)

2+ years in the mobile space (applications that can be viewed on the iStore preferred)

Good written and verbal communication skills

Excellent teamwork skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple tasks

Able to manage one's own time efficiently

Required: (candidates MUST have these skills to be considered):

Extensive experience with mobile application development environments including iOS (iPhone/iPad) and BlackBerry and a willingness to acquire Android & Windows Mobile skills

Deep working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies

Experience with client side application scripting, e.g., JavaScript

Experience with Java including Java/J2ME, Objective-C, HTML, XML, CSS, web services and databases

Experience with version control systems such as Subversion

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think logically

Familiarity with software development methodologies and testing best practices

Personal qualities:

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.

Must be able to effectively work independently or as part of a team in a busy environment.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Desired Degree: Masters (although Bachelors is fine for experienced candidates)
