This position contributes to the team responsible for the Civil / Structural design of New Nuclear Power Plants. The Soil-Structure-Interaction Subject Matter Expert will perform activities within a team environment, working with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to design and successfully deliver ABWR and ESBWR projects.
In addition, you will:
Understand and evaluate seismic analysis of critical BWR structures
Understand and analyze seismic soil structure interaction analyses of large power plant structures using SASSI computer code
Understand NRC seismic requirements for Nuclear Power Plants
Interface with internal and external customers, suppliers, partners, the NRC and international regulatory authorities on technical issues
Mentor and provide technical leadership in area of expertise to other engineers and projects
Work within a team environment to execute work plans and schedules as applicable for mission success
Perform work in compliance with policies and procedures
Implement work plans in accordance with the overall GEH Regulatory and Procedure Excellence Initiative and Engineering requirements engineering program
Support GEH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions
Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
Support commercial and marketing opportunities for New Plants
Support Company initiatives: Six Sigma, process improvement, New Product Introduction and digitization
Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions
Support other GE businesses, supplier, and internal / external customers
Serve as a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in own technical specialty in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities
Provide engineering support, within one’s specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools
Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
Function as program manager when appropriate
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
Develop and implement training modules as necessary
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
Minimum of 10 years of experience in nuclear facility design and/or analysis. Boiling Water Reactor (BWR), PWR business and /or equivalent technical environment is a plus
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a majority of the job functions and technologies
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Soil Structure Interaction Analyses

Civil Engineering degree
Master of Science Degree in Engineering Discipline
Extensive experience in the design and analysis of structures to the following codes: ASME B&PV Section III Division 2, AISC N690 code, and ACI 349 code
Experience performing stress analyses of civil structures using Ansys and SAP4
Proven ability to think strategically, be creative and move quickly
Quick learner, able to sort through information and make timely and sound decisions
Demonstrated project management skills
Open communication style and proven ability to develop collaborative and effective team relationships
Demonstrated ability to lead a team with multiple demands and priorities
Knowledge of nuclear business products, business processes, customers and competitive environment
Knowledge of GEH ESBWR and ABWR Certified Designs
Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements
Demonstrated high energy and the ability to energize others
Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments

Registered Professional Engineer in the United States
