Real Goods Solar Power Consultants develop and build strong relationships with homeowners and small business owners. They actively identify and pursue sales leads, address customers’ questions and concerns, and meet sales quotas for solar electric systems by leveraging networking activities, referral marketing, grassroots marketing campaigns, and following up on company-provided sales leads. Solar Power Consultants will spend much of their time managing their sales funnel through and traveling to and visiting with prospective customers at their homes. This position requires a person who is outgoing, friendly, and naturally enjoys working with a wide variety of individuals and personalities. The ideal candidate will be personable with a high degree of customer service and professionalism, and have excellent computer skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales of residential solar electric systems (monthly quota)
  • Maintain required reporting metrics utilizing CRM tool
  • Participating in company-wide sales calls and regional meetings
  • Managing and developing client list through full life cycle business development and lead generation
  • Closing deals and signing contracts at client homes
  • Following up with new customers after installation to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Prospecting for and qualifying leads. Referral marketing, network marketing, ground-based marketing campaigns
  • Using online tools (sketch up) to conduct preliminary site evaluations and develop system designs
  • Generating project proposals/quotes for customers
  • Analyzing customer electric use history and providing ROI report
  • Logging all communications with customers in CRM contact database
Essential Qualifications:
  • A previous successful track record of consumer sales experience (preferably in-home)
  • Ability and willingness to work a variety of hours including nights and weekends
  • Experience in the solar industry preferred (we provide paid training)
  • Strong track record of full cycle business development and lead generation
  • Strong track record of achievement (sales awards, beating quota, building a new book of business or growing a market, etc.)
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office; CRM experience a plus. Strong computer skills are a requirement.
  • World-class communication and customer service skills and experience
  • Passion for green energy and renewable technology
  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • All candidates must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug screen
