The DM&A group is the central technology organization (headed by the Chief Architect) that is responsible for enabling and enforcing superior Data Management and analyticaltechnology across JP Morgan’s consumer and community banking businesses. As part of this function, we provide oversight for all technology projects to ensure excellent planning, design, execution and delivery; provide enterprise-level development resources for shared applications and services; and are responsible for advising JP Morgan’s management about the technology landscape. We provide oversight in various forms – from program/project management oversight to development and quality assurance to general architectural guidance.

The Solution Engineer Lead (VP level) is responsible for owning and driving the technical vision and core platform that enables the delivery and construction processes for the Data Management and Analytics group. The individual is a senior level technologist who has deep knowledge in designing and building enterprise level systems using service-oriented architecture. This is a been there, done that technologist who thrives on driving efforts to completion while utilizing best in breed technologies and methodologies. The Solution Architect must be a visionary, while managing expectations across a wide span of players and ensuring execution for the core infrastructure of the platform. The Solution Engineer Lead must have successful experience in Big Data implementations and large data integration initiatives.

Your day-to-day activities will vary widely based on the state of the organization’s priorities and needs at that point in time. As such, you must be comfortable with flexibility in your role. You must be able to operate in a relaxed, yet confident manner, without explicit hierarchy and structure governing your work. An affinity towards, and appreciation of, an influence-based and entrepreneurial culture is critical for success.

Key Responsibilities include:
Ensuring excellent practices are utilized in delivering Solution Alternatives Analyses and Recommendations

Ensuring Solution Recommendation Decisions can be actioned by the Development Teams

Participating in the definition of the team’s set of best practices and SDLC

Acting as a role model for all best practices, ensuring consistency across entire team

Mentoring junior staff to assist in their technical development, helping build a great team

Operating as the point person in leveraging new practices from Enterprise Architecture

Engage in enterprise-level systems component design and implementation

Systems integration, including design and development of APIs, Adapters, and Connectors

Integration with Data warehouse and analytics solutions

Write and maintain reference architectures and systems design ‘best practices’ guidelines




B.S. in Computer Science and/or Mathematics

Experience Delivering End to End Solutions in the Enterprise Space

Strong foundation of OO Design & Enterprise Architecture, Design Patterns, and Unit Testing

Fluency in Java

Proven ability with R&D activities

Experience with Hadoop and Map/Reduce development

Experience in multi-threaded application development

Experience with large data processing solutions

Proven ability to implement parallel processing systems for high performance solutions

Proven ability to implement multi-tiered component architectures

Experience with Linux systems



Experience going from whiteboard concept to delivery of Service Oriented Architecture

Experience with MPP Databases/Appliances (i.e., Teradata, Greenplum, Netezza)

Experience with NoSQL architecture

Experience in Agile Methodologies is a plus

Proven ability with software design patterns for Big Data systems engineering

Proven ability to work with Metadata driven systems

Other languages are a plus: C#, C++, Python, Perl, and Ruby
