SDCOE is recruiting for a Special Education Program Specialist - Behavior emphasis for the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education in San Marcos, CA. Reporting to the Director of the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) and in collaboration with the district of assignment the Program Specialist/Behavior will: |
Consult and collaborate with teachers of students with behavioral challenges and autism or autistic-like behaviors.
Demonstrate "best practices" through model teaching, strategies and techniques.
Conduct staff training for teachers, aides and support staff to enhance instruction for students with social, communication, behavioral and learning challenges.
Oversee district based regional programs for students with emotional disturbances (SEAS), interface with NCCSE Program Specialist in placement of students in these programs and provision of services to the students.
Ensure the use of best practices in implementation of pre-referral behavioral interventions, positive behavioral interventions as outline on the IEP, and implementation of behavior support and behavior intervention plans by collaborating with school psychologists and other staff and contractors working in a behavioral capacity.
This position requires possession of or eligibility for a California Pupil Personnel Services credential with an emphasis in School Psychology or Education Specialist credential in mild/moderate or moderate severe, as well as a Master’s degree in education, and five years experience in education at various grade levels ranging from K-12 with increasing responsibilities. BCBA certification is preferred.
