Devereux Children's IDD Services is seeking a FT SPED Teacher to provide educational instruction to an Short Term Intensive Residential program for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Specific responsibilities include:
Demonstrates the ability to structure the unit physical and social environment so that every interaction and activity within the treatment program promotes positive goal-directed responses and/or social interactions from the client and facilitates the psychotherapeutic goals of treatment. Demonstrates the ability to purposefully manage and use the structured environment as an instrument for treatment in promoting desired behaviors, encouraging a sense of responsibility and self-control, and fostering optimal functioning in activities of daily living and interpersonal interactions (environmental / milieu therapy).
Demonstrates the skills, knowledge and abilities of employees to implement, develop and manage classroom program services to include assessment, RR’s , IEP’s, lesson plans, implementation of positive support behavior pan, and skill and behavior data. These services will be designed to meet specific therapeutic needs based on individualized annual plans, goals and objectives. These services will be delivered in such a manner that they attend to quality issues, (data collection, trend analysis, outcomes, corrective actions), the implementation of “Best Practices” and innovative methods of treatment and treatment delivery.
Performs initial screening and periodic assessment on a timely basis. Develops, implements, and monitors both individual, student, and classroom curricula to meet the educational, social, and behavioral needs of assigned students. Prepares IEP’s, progress reports, and other behavioral or educational data reports. Ensure that all IEP objectives and positive behavior support guidelines are followed with integrity at all times. Train new classroom staff in all classroom programs. Establishes a classroom environment that is conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behavior. Establishes a classroom environment that is clean, orderly, and safe. Supervises students and is responsible for their welfare, safety, and location at all times. Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review and evaluate student’s progress, attends all staff meetings, training and in-services. Adheres to protocol regarding the development of new programs. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism at all time. Maintains integrity of notebooks and monitors notebooks to ensure that data are being summarized and graphed regularly.
