The Capitol Region Education Council seeks a highly qualified Long Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to service students at the University of Hartford Magnet School.

Responsibilities: Ideal applicants will have experience teaching students with cognitive, physical, or emotional/behavioral disabilities, assessing how each child learns best, and then adapt teaching methods to fit unique learning styles. Candidates must also have experience consulting with general education teachers, planning and developing creative teaching and learning activities, and administering diagnostic tests and evaluating outcomes of teaching methods as well as participating in student placement team meetings and contributing to the accomplishment of team goals. Candidates must be able to effectively communicate and interact with parents, LEAs, and other personnel to ensure the accomplishment of educational goals.

Assignment is anticipated to run October to January.

Requires college degree and relevant CT certification in Special Education. Prior experience working with diverse populations in an elementary school setting preferred.
