Bard College’s Office of Development and Alumni/ae Affairs is seeking a Special Events Associate, reporting directly to the Special Events Manager. The Associate will be required to coordinate and assist with the management of special events on campus, and other locations, for Trustees, alumni/ae, friends, parents and other college constituents. This individual must have some previous event planning experience, particularly in a fast paced environment. Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills are essential. Experience in a college or arts related environment preferred.

The Associate will assist the Special Events Manager with the planning and execution of Bard College events, including, but not limited to Commencement/Reunion Weekend, Family Weekend, Alumni/ae Day, Alumni/ae Holiday Party, and other revenue generating events; manage the Patron Priority Ticket Line for the Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts and assist with all stewardship and cultivation events. In addition, the Associate will plan and manage all donor benefits for the Friends of the Fisher Center donor program, assist Special Events Manager with the planning of the College President’s entertaining. In addition, the Associate will be responsible for tracking project income and expenses, as well as assistance with maintaining event budgets.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years of related special event experience and be a self starter with enthusiasm for organization’s mission, with the ability to plan, organize and direct multiple activities and meet all project deadlines. The successful candidate will have superior project management and time management skills, budget preparation and management, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy, including proficiency with Excel, Word mail merge and a familiarity with database management a plus. A willingness to work nights and weekends as required, as well a sense of humor and excellent customer service skills is required.
